A couple of weeks ago, we talked about who Jesus is and who he claimed to be.
Who do you think Jesus is/was?
In the Bible Jesus doesn’t just say he was a good teacher. He claimed to be God, to be the I AM, and the several times the Jews picked up stones to kill him because they understood who he was claiming to be.
Since, Jesus claims to be God, here is the logical reasoning we could follow:

Who do YOU think Jesus is?

This is just a quick update to let you know that more is on the way. We want to just let you all get a glimpse into what we study each week at the Journey.
We meet Sunday evenings for Bible Study and on Wednesday evenings for dinner and hanging out. We’d LOVE for you to join us!
On Sundays we have been reading through 1 Timothy, Paul’s letter describing how the church in his day AND today should be ordered. Last Sunday we reviewed the first 5 chapters and the key points we’ve taken out of it. We’ve spent all last semester and the beginning of this semester going through 1 Timothy.
This is what the church (by God’s definition) should be and should be about:
-
Silencing False Teachers (1 Tim 1:3-11)
-
Sound Doctrine (1 Tim 1:5, 8-11)
-
Pray for everyone and those in authority (1 Tim 2:1-7)
-
Men: Be leaders of worship, in holiness and unity (1 Tim 2:8)
-
Women: Be submissive, but complementary to men (1 Tim 2:9-15)
-
Women can’t have authority over men in the church (1 Tim 2:11-12)
-
An elder is above reproach, self-controlled, and a family man (1 Tim 3:1-7)
-
An elder is an appointed overseer of spiritual wellness to us (1 Tim 3:1-7)
-
A deacon meets the needs of church while freeing the elders to do the ministry of the Word and prayer (1 Tim 3:8-13)
-
Deacons must pass examination for qualification (1 Tim 3:8-13)
-
Deacons must be male (1 Tim 3:8-13)
-
Paul’s instructions cannot be fulfilled outside of the local church (1 Tim 3:14-16)
-
God’s household, the church, will not be the pillar and foundation of the truth if it is not structured into local churches (1 Tim 3:14-16)
-
Ministers of the Gospel plant/establish local churches and appoint elders (1 Tim 4; Acts 14:21-23; Titus 1:5)
-
Elders/Deacons and Ministers of the Gospel interdependently meet the needs of the church (1 Tim 4; Acts 14:21-23, 20:17-38; 1 Cor 9:11-14)
-
Families should take care of its needy members, so the church would not be burdened (1 Tim 5:3-8; 16)
-
Faithful widows should be put on the list of widows, which is the widows who serve the church for the rest of their lives in exchange for being provided for (1 Tim 5:9-10)
-
Younger widows should remarry (1 Tim 5:11-15)
-
Treat Church as a family; with love, respect, and good communication in times of conflict & peace (1 Tim 5:1-2)
-
Elders are worthy of double honor, and are doubly accountable therefore should be provided for (1 Tim 5:17-18)
-
If he’s accused by multiple ‘sources’ and found guilty he should be rebuked accordingly (1 Tim 5:19-20)
-
Take time to train elders; Don’t be hasty to commission him or his sin will be yours (1 Tim 5:22-24)
Until next time! (Pictures will be coming soon.)

Sunday, November 8 – The Antioch School students and wives are having a meeting…Of course, this means that we need childcare. It is immediately following the service, so you wouldn’t even need to make a special trip out to the church. We’re looking for 3 volunteers for approximately 1-2 hours.
Here’s the good part: If you volunteer, you get free lunch!
Here’s the better part: If you volunteer, you’ve served Christ’s church with a cheerful heart!
Please email Nate if you are interested.

Well, as you all know, we are not just a rogue campus ministry, we are a part of Community Bible Church. On top of that, we have a part in serving the church – not just reaping free benefits.
So as you might have guessed thus far, October is The Journey’s month to clean the church. This coming Wednesday, September 30, at the Journey meeting, Tim Peterson will have a sign-up sheet for cleaning. If everybody commits to ONE DAY out of the month to do a little bit of cleaning (which realistically should not take more than an hour or so), then our responsibility will be taken care of.
So please think about when you can commit, and be ready to sign up.
Thanks everybody!
