Building Tasks

building-tasks_head.jpgWe are excited that over the past two years we have been able to make some nice improvements to our facility: fresh paint in all “main street” rooms as well as the bathrooms and library, new tile in the foyer and new carpeting in the sanctuary just to name a few of the things you have done.

But there are always things to be done–from basic maintenance to further improvements for making our building as welcoming as possible. We want to take good care of the facility God has provided. Will you help?

The following is a list of things that need to be done around the building and property. The purpose for putting it here is because some of you have expressed that you have been unable to join us for our most recent work days, but you would like to dedicate some time and sweat to helping in various ways.

So, we invite you to pick something from the list below, take care of it and check it off (by adding a comment or sending Pastor LePage an email) and we invite you to let us know if you’re aware of something not on this list that needs to be done.

So, here are the tasks in no particular order of priority (Note: Room numbers are currently written in pencil outside the door of each room):

  1. Remove platforms in Rm. 2E. If there is room for them in the shed, please stack them up down there. If not, perhaps the platforms could be disassembled and the wood salvaged.
  2. Rm. 2D needs to be cleaned out and organized. Please speak with Cathy Barfield about this project.
  3. The sign light should come on at dark and go off in the day. For some reason it is stuck on all day long. This burns the bulb up very quickly.
  4. Burned out fluorescent bulbs in main office (please check all around while you’re at it).
  5. Shelves above stove in kitchen – all materials are there, just need to adjust them to fit. A bigger refrigerator was donated last year and the old shelves were just a little too long.
  6. Middle West bulb in sanctuary is out. That bulb was recently replaced, so please speak with Allen Rogers about whether a refund is possible.
  7. Solar sidewalk lights need to be installed right outside the front door. These have been purchased and are in the main office.
  8. Remove flats in 1H or affix to the wall. Please speak with Cathy Barfield about this. The teachers may not want the flats to stay.
  9. The quiet room is not entirely quiet. Perhaps some insulation in the ceiling is needed.
  10. The “General Store” flats in Rm. 1G need to come down so the room can be painted. If you are able to take these down, please spackle the holes of the screws currently holding them to the wall. The flats can be disassembled and thrown away.
  11. The two-door cabinet in Rm. 1G needs to be hung to the left of the door. Please hang at the same height as the cabinet in the nursery. We will also need hooks underneath (for coats, etc.) just like the nursery cabinet. Note: #10 above must be completed first.
  12. Painting (Note: paint supplies can be found in the closet next to the nursery and please speak with Beth LePage and/or Linda Schultz about the color scheme before tackling one of these projects.
    1. Touch-ups are needed from time to time. Please walk through the building, identify the spots and look in the supply closet for the matching paint.
    2. The nursery and quiet room painting/decorating needs to be completed. Beth LePage has taken ownership of this project if you would like to help.
    3. The nursery bathroom needs to be painted.
    4. The hallway outside the downstairs classrooms needs to be painted.
    5. Room 1G needs to be painted. Note: The “General Store” flats need to come down and holes need to be plugged first. The paint for this room has already been purchased.
    6. Rm. 2E needs to be painted. Please speak with Cathy Barfield about this.
    7. The main office needs to be painted.
    8. Room numbers need to be painted all around the building (with stencils?). Please speak with Pastor LePage about this.
  13. The coat racks in the hallway between the nursery (1F) and Rm. 1G need to come down. The hallway is just too narrow, especially when two people pass each other. The coat racks in the corner, just outside the rear Library door, provide sufficient space for hanging coats (so please do not take those down). Please spackle the holes to prepare for painting the hallway.
  14. The doors to rooms 1G and 1H need to be turned into Dutch doors. Please speak with Pastor LePage about this.
  15. There is a crack in the ceiling above the light switches in the sanctuary. This needs to be patched and painted.
  16. A path of some kind (stones?) is needed from the front of the building to the children’s play area so the children do not have to walk into the parking lot or through the landscape or through the nursery to get there. Please speak with Pastor LePage about this.
  17. The platform in the sanctuary needs to be recarpeted. If you have experience laying carpeting, perhaps you could help. Please speak with Pastor LePage about this.
