We value prayer
Jesus Christ said “apart from Me you can do nothing” (John 15:5), and the early church “devoted themselves to…prayer” (Acts 2:42). We are instructed to “pray at all times in the Spirit” (Ephesians 6:18) and to “pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17).
Our dream is that through our devotion to prayer, God will do such great things in and through CBC that it will be evident to all who hear about this ministry that God—not man—deserves the glory and honor.
Therefore, the people of Community Bible Church will devote ourselves to prayer (Acts 6:4) in the following ways:
- We will keep prayer at the top of our list of core values to remind us that “apart from (Christ we) can do nothing” (John 15:5).
- We will regularly evaluate our prayer lives seeking to be faithful and persistent in prayer.
- We will regularly pray for each other and fellow believers in Lawrence and around the world. “Prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, (will) be made on behalf of all men, for kings and all who are in authority” (1 Timothy 2:1-8).
- We will pray together each Sunday morning before the worship service for the leadership, congregation and ministry of CBC.
- We will devote regular time to prayer and fasting in our Community Groups.
- The CBC leadership will model and teach devotion to prayer and schedule times of corporate prayer and fasting.
