We value outreach
Jesus Christ commanded “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you…” (Matthew 28:19). The early church obeyed by evangelizing strategic cities, establishing and strengthening local churches, then developing leaders and entrusting the church to those leaders (Acts 13-14). We are instructed to “let your speech always be with grace, as though seasoned with salt, so that you will know how you should respond to each person” (Colossians 4:6) and to “be ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence” (1 Peter 3:15).
Our dream is to be “salt and light” in such a way that our community and its leaders will be thankful we are here and publicly glorify our Father in heaven (Matthew 5:13-16) and to grow through evangelism rather than transfer growth.
Therefore, the people of CBC will reach out in the following ways:
- We will pray for God to raise up workers (Matthew 9:38), to provide open doors of opportunity (Colossians 4:3), boldness (Acts 4:29,31), to cause the message to spread with great success (2 Thessalonians 3:1), to protect His workers from those who oppose the gospel of Jesus Christ (2 Thessalonians 3:2) and to open hearts that people might be saved (Acts 16:14; 1 Timothy 2:1-4).
- We will seek to be clear as we share the good news that “Christ died for our sins and rose from the dead” (1 Corinthians 15:1-11) and that “whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life” (John 3:16).
- We will each be trained to share our faith on an individual basis, remembering that most people who trust Christ respond to the invitation of a close friend or relative.
- We will each participate in evangelism by seeking to obey the commands to “conduct yourselves with wisdom toward outsiders, making the most of the opportunity. Let your speech always be with grace, as though seasoned with salt, so that you will know how you should respond to each person” (Colossians 4:5-6).
- We will do outreach together through Community Groups, special services and events. We will look for ways to build bridges to unchurched people in our community through ministries such as International Friends, Backyard Bible Clubs, the Leo Center, etc.
- We will look for ways to increase CBC’s visibility in the local community in order to “adorn the doctrine of God our Savior” (Titus 2:10).
- We will continually evaluate and improve our “front door” ministries (i.e., greeters, ushers, nursery workers, teachers, etc.). We will be receptive to visitors, keeping our facility looking well-kept and clean so that guests will feel welcome and parents will feel comfortable leaving children in our nursery and classrooms.
