We value every-member ministry
Jesus Christ said “the one who is the greatest among you must become like the youngest, and the leader like the servant” (Luke 22:26) and the early church leaders delegated responsibility (Acts 6:1-6). We are told that church leaders are given “for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ” (Ephesians 4:12)—not to do all the work themselves.
Our dream is to be so efficient in our “equipping” that we would see “the proper working of each individual part” (Ephesians 4:16) and our body would be “built up in love” and God would be glorified in this unity; that every member would be able to testify that he or she is discovering his or her giftedness and experiencing the “fullness of Christ” (Ephesians 4:13); and that we would see a consistently growing number of leaders being set free to do the work of the ministry.
Therefore, the people of CBC will strive for every-member ministry in the following ways:
- We will each seek to do our part (Ephesians 4:16) being quick to serve and not waiting to be asked.
- We will seek to discover how God has gifted us so that we can use those spiritual gifts “for the common good” of our brothers and sisters in the body (1 Corinthians 12:7, 13).
- We will give not only financially, but also our time and talent.
- The leadership of CBC will seek to set an example as servant-leaders; to “equip the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ” (Ephesians 4:12); and after servants have “first been tested…let them serve” (1 Timothy 3:10) by delegating appropriately and wisely.
