We value authentic worship

Jesus Christ said that “true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth” (John 4:23), and the early church “day by day continuing with one mind in the temple…were praising God…” (Acts 2:46-47). We are instructed to “present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship” (Romans 12:1), and “be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord” (Ephesians 5:18-19).

Our dream is that believers and unbelievers in the local community would rightly declare that “God is certainly among you” (1 Corinthians 14:25), and that CBC would become a training ground for people who are gifted musically and desire to lead corporate worship in a biblical manner.

Therefore, the people of CBC will seek to worship in the following ways:

  • We will gather consistently on Sunday mornings in corporate worship and consider this one of our highest priorities.
  • We will worship the Father in spirit and truth-with both sincere hearts, full of love and gratitude, and minds that are growing in our understanding of God’s greatness, works and will.
  • We will encourage Christ-followers to make worship a part of their everyday lifestyle—not just a Sunday morning activity.
  • We will choose and equip worship leaders who will strive for both musical excellence and creating a God-centered corporate worship service-not allowing worship to become a man-centered performance.
  • We will encourage worship leaders to blend the best of the old with the best of the new. “Best” means songs and hymns that are both faithful to Scripture as well as excellent in quality.
  • The CBC leadership will model and teach devotion to worship.
