Your Money Map: Helpful Resources

By • Sep 16th, 2010 • Category: Equipping Hour, News

Hi all,

This last Sunday (9/12/2010) we started the Your Money Map study during CBC’s equipping hour. During the class, I mentioned that I would be putting some helpful resources on a part of my personal web site at: http://dbarfield.org/finances/. Below is a listing of what I added this week:

  • The list of budget categories in the book as well as those we use, in an Excel spreadsheet. You can adapt the categories for your own situation.
  • Life purpose and goals worksheet (a Word document). This may take some time to work through, but as we know our purpose and goals better, it can lead to spending decisions that better reflect our priorities (rather than the professional marketers who aim to guide us).
  • Personal Financial Statement (balance sheet – assets vs. liabilities) as a PDF document or as an Excel spreadsheet. Completing this will give you a good sense of where you are financially. It is good to update this once a year so you can see if you are making progress.

I will send other updates as I put more on the web site.

Comments and suggestions are appreciated.

If you do not want to get these (approx. weekly email updates), please let me know. I am sending it to those in the class, others who have expressed interest, and some of those I am working with one-on-one through the materials.

It is fine if you pass this on to others.

Thanks
