A Little About Meg:

(coming soon)

A Little About Nate:

I grew up Roman Catholic – the whole shebang.  Baptized as an infant, confirmed in 8th grade, etc.  I cared very little about my faith, and knew very little about it, anyway.

After I graduated high school, I began working at a Christian Summer Camp in the Kitchen.  I was a prep-cook – pretty good paying job for a newly graduated punk.  There was this older man, named Ron, who also worked in the kitchen with me.  He was a dishwasher.

One day, half-way through the summer, Ron asked to sit down next to me during lunch.  Being the nice guy I am, I said, “Sure!  Take a seat.”  He began light conversation…after all, I had never really gotten to know the guy.

Soon enough, in our small talk, he asked me, “So why did you decide to work here?”

My response was pretty typical, I guess:  “Well, I’m starting college in the fall, and I’d like to save a little money,” and then I added something I thought would make him think really highly of me, “and I really want to grow in my faith.”

“Really, that’s great!” he said, “Actually, I’m here for similar reasons:  I want to grow in my faith, and I also need to save up some money.  I’m going on a mission trip to China.”

I was a humanitarian at this point in my life, so I was impressed.  “Very cool,” I said.  However, there was something that did not make any sense to me.  You see, Ron was good friends with the second-in-command at this particular camp.  In my mind, it seemed like, with the connections he had, he could have gotten any job he wanted.  He could have gotten my job, which paid considerably more than his dishwashing job, if he wanted.  Not to mention, that he chose to be a DISHWASHER!  It’s dirty, hot, sweaty, slimy.  If he was trying to save money, it seemed like there was a more efficient way to do it (and a much less disgusting way, too.)

So I asked him, “Ron, if you have such great connections at this camp, why did you choose to be a dishwasher?”

He looked me right in the eye – I’ll never forget it – he said, “Because the Lord wants to teach me servanthood.”

I thought it was the stupidest thing I had ever heard.  It made no sense to me whatsoever.  It was silly…stupid…

and yet I could not stop thinking about his answer.

Later that day, I asked him what he meant.  He began to quote to me John, Chapter 1 from memory.  And he explained what it meant, he explained it to me for the first time in my life.  Verse 12:  “Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God”  This caught me off guard.

“Wait a second,” I interrupted, “you mean to tell me that it is only by believing that God accepts you?  What about the sacraments?  What about the mass?  What about being a good person, for God’s sake?”

I had learned about Jesus’ death and resurrection, all through my catechism classes (or as we called it at the time “kiddy prison”).  But I had never heard this before.  God loves me?  and that’s why Jesus died on the cross?  This was revolutionary.

I made my decision quickly thereafter.  This was truth that you don’t mess around with.  Jesus Christ died for our sins, was resurrected from death, and will return again in glory to judge the living and dead.

A Little More About Us

Meg and Nate met at the same camp, through which Nate was saved.

Nate followed Meghan to Kansas in January 2007, where Meghan was going through Nursing School.  This is when they got connected at Community Bible Church.  The first week they visited, the college group was going through a “Relationship Study.”  Consequently, Nate and Meghan were engaged in March 2007, and married in July 2007.

Community Bible Church has helped them immensely in their lives.  They have a family, in which they are able to grow with support and love.  They have men and women, to whom they look as Fathers and Mothers.  They have great friends who they call Brothers and Sisters.

They both currently play on the worship team – Nate on Guitar, and Meghan on Djembe (an african drum).

Nate is the leader of the college group called, The Journey, and Meghan has a secretarial position in Shaun’s (our pastor’s) office.

Nate is continuing his education through the Antioch School of Church Planting and Leadership Development, which is offered at Community Bible Church.  He is learning how to be a leader in the church, while getting premium Biblical training.  About the Acts Course, which is the first study in the curriculum, Nate said, “It changed my life.  I began to see the mission of the church for the first time, and I want to be a part of it!”

They had a beautiful baby boy, Peter Elliot Morsches, on Feb. 23, 2009.
