A little about Misty:
Though born in Honduras, I was adopted at the age of one and grew up in Liberty, Missouri. I have also lived in Michigan, Indiana, Arizona, Minnesota and Kansas. I am the younger of two daughters. From as early as I can remember, my favorite activity has been singing. In fact, I have been heavily involved in public musical performances since I was 5 years old (my first instrument was ukulele, then guitar, then harp, then piano, and of course ALWAYS singing!). I have a Bachelor’s of Music in Harp Performance from the University of Arizona (1997). For a long time, music was an idol for me. And while music is now tied into my livelihood, I am truly thankful to have repented and put it in its rightful place. Now I joyfully use my musical gifts as a tool to worship and serve Christ.
Like all people, my life has had its share of joy and sorrow. During an especially dark and difficult time in 2002, I trusted Christ as Lord and Savior (while living in Minnesota). I am in awe of how God has changed me since then—and continues changing me—through His Word, His Church and His Holy Spirit. While I am certainly still a sinner, I am not the person I was eight years ago, eight months ago, or even eight weeks ago. Praise God!
2010 finds me embarking upon a new journey in life as a single mom. It is not the path I would have chosen for myself (nor for my beloved children), but I know that my relationship with the Lord will be ever-strengthened and deepened. I trust God to guide me through in a way that will bring glory to the precious name of Jesus. And I choose to remember each trial that crosses before me is just teeny-tiny blip in the scope of Eternity. I rest peacefully knowing God is in control, He loves me, He is faithful and just, and He will never leave me.
God has particularly brought tremendous spiritual growth in my life over the last 2 ½ years while attending CBC (through Community Group, the Women’s Ministry, Adult Sunday School and Sunday sermons, as well as Christ-centered friendships). I am so blessed to serve and learn here at CBC, and praise God for what He has done and what He is yet to do.
