Is “The Golden Compass” the new Narnia?

Be careful what you let your kids see and hear. The writer of the books that inspired the recently released movie, The Golden Compass (starring Nicole Kidman) is named Philip Pullman. Pullman said in a 2003 interview, “My books are about killing God” and before that (2001) he said frankly that he was “trying to undermine the basis of Christian belief.” Nope, this is definitely not the new Narnia.
Take a look at the Snopes info (as well as the sources at the bottom of the Snopes page).
Here’s an interesting review from The New Yorker (not exactly a Christian publication) called “Far From Narnia“. It lays out some interesting detail about this film series and the writer behind it.
